## Hey Dad Let’s Talk – 1

Hey Dad – Let’s Talk is a series of activities that allows Dad’s to spend time and bond with their kids. They include a variety of Creative activities from Riddles, Puzzles, Information Tit Bits, Trivia, Quiz, stories etc. Activities that you can discuss, stuff that is interesting and exploratory. Each activity should take 20 – 30 minutes and the best time to spend time with your kids is before you tuck them to Bed.

1. Look at the end result and how it goes up and down like a wave

• 111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

2. Arrange  all the digits from 1 – 9 in ascending order to total up to 100

• 12 + 3 – 4 + 5 + 67 + 8 + 9 = 100

3.  Here is another set of symmetrical numbers

• 1 x 8 + 1 = 9
• 12 x 8 + 2 = 98
• 123 x 8 + 3 = 987
• 1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
• 12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
• 123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
• 1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
• 12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
• 123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

4. The number 142857 is rather special. When you multiply it with 1 to 6 the digits found in the answer stay the same, just in a different order. Check it out:

1 x 142857 = 142857

2 x 142857 = 285714

3 x 142857 = 428571

4 x 142857 = 571428

5 x 142857 = 714285

6 x 142857 = 857142

What happens when you multiply it by 7 ? You get another rather special number: 7 x 142857 = 999999

And it doesn’t stop there:

142 + 857 = 999

14 + 28 + 57 = 99

142857 x 142857 = 20408122449

20408 + 122449 = 142857  That’s one amazing number!

5. Be a magician – Guess The number

Step 1: Think of a number

Step 2: Multiply it by 3

Step 3: Add 6 with the getting result

Step 4: Divide it by 3

Step 5: Subtract it from the first number used

6. Be a magician – Guess The number

Trick 2: Any Number

Step1: Think of any number.

Step2: Double the number.

Step4: Subtract 3 with the result.

Step5: Divide the result by 2.

Step6: Subtract the number with the number started with.

7. What is unique about 8549176320 ?

Each digit when written in words progressively moves up the alphabet list – Eight is E and Zero is Z.

8. How many squares are there on a chess board … ?

Its not 64 – There are a total of 204 squares on a chess board, including all sizes from 1 x 1 up to 8 x 8.

9. There were 100 chocolates in a box. The box was passed down along a row of people. The first person took one chocolate. Each person down the row took one more chocolates than the person before, until the box was empty. What is the largest number of people that could have been in the row?

Solution:

The longest line of people you can have is thirteen, with the last person taking all the remaining chocolates. There are not enough chocolates for a fourteenth person, because they would have to take 14 chocolates (after the previous person had taken 13) and there would be only 9 left.

10. And Finally  the last question for the day – why is 9 called the Indestructible number

9 * 1 = 9

9 * 2 = 18 , 1 + 8 = 9

9 * 3 = 27 , 2 + 7 = 9

9 * 4 = 36 , 3 + 6 = 9

9 * 5 = 45 , 4 + 5 = 9

9 * 6 = 54 , 5 + 4 = 9

9 * 7 = 63 , 6 + 3 = 9

9 * 8 = 72 , 7 + 2 = 9

9 * 9 = 81 , 8 + 1 = 9

9 * 10 = 90 , 9 +0 = 9
